From Suit to Prison Garb: abortion doctor convicted of first degree murder

Abortion doctor, Kermit Gosnell has been convicted of first degree murder. 72-year-old Gosnell was convicted for the death of three babies whom prosecutors said were born alive but subsequently killed. His conviction today ended a two-month trial which showcased sordid details of late-term abortions performed in Gosnell's clinic in Philadelphia where prosecutors asserted that "aborted fetuses and their body parts were stockpiled in cabinets and freezers, in plastic bags, bottles, even cat-food containers. Jars with severed feet lined shelves."

While Gosnell was acquitted of one count of first-degree murder in a fourth abortion, jurors found him guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of 41-year-old woman, Karnamaya Mongar, who died from anesthesia overdose during an abortion in 2009.

Some of the charges alleged that "Gosnell delivered babies alive during late-term abortions and then snipped their spinal cords or directed underlings to do it", an act one of his workers who testified against the doctor equated with beheading.... "It is separating the brain from the body."

Terminating a pregnancy after 24 weeks is illegal in the State of Pennsylvania. Gosnell may face death penalty when sentencing commences next week. For details, go to: http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/13/18232657-abortion-doctor-kermit-gosnell-convicted-of-first-degree-murder#comments
