Florida Man Indicted for Tricking Pregnant Girlfriend into Taking Abortion Drug

John Andrew Welen, 28
Remee Jo Lee, 26

What was John Andrew Welden thinking when he deceived his girlfriend to abort her six-week old pregnancy? Did he think he would get away with it? If he did not want to be a father, could he not have used condoms? Or, is this a case of one wanting to eat one's cake and still have it?

Welden took a drastic measure to get rid of his unborn child, and that has landed him in a deep hole!
According to prosecutors, a day after he and his girlfriend of eight months visited Welden's father's clinic for prenatal care and a sonogram, he lied to her that his father, a fertility doctor, had diagnosed her with some infections, and prescribed some antibiotics for her. Unknown to Remee Lee, the bottle contained Cytotec, an ulcer drug, not Amoxicillin as John indicated. Lee took the drugs, started bleeding and subsequently suffered a miscarriage.

Welden has been arrested, and indicted on charges of product-tampering and first-degree murder under the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, charges that could keep him in prison for the rest of his life!

Did Remee Lee contribute to her loss? Should she be blamed for taking the drug even though the doctor did not discuss the said infection with her? What could she have done? Should willfully killing a six-week old fetus considered as murder?

  1. Waoooo..... that was a terrible thing to do on the part of the young man but life imprisonment? That's heavy. And he s being indicted for first-degree murder under the Unborn Victims of Violence Act... So, what made it first degree murder? What if the girlfriend had willingly submitted to an abortion, would it still be referred as murder or abortion is not legal in Florida?
