Body on the Beach: 14 year-old killed by the man she met online

Shaniesha Forbes would have celebrated her 15th birthday last month. Sadly, the teenager's naked, charred body was found on the beach in Brooklyn, New York in January. 20-year-old, Christian Ferdinand, of Limestone, Maine, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder in the death of Forbes. Ferdinand allegedly told detectives that he met Forbes online last December, and the two started a sexual relationship. When they met at Ferdinand's cousin's apartment on January 4th, and Forbes informed him she was pregnant, Ferdinand smothered her with a pillow and later dumped her burnt body on the beach!!!

 

Admittedly, not every online meeting ends in tragedy. Stories abound of successful relationships that started on the world wide web.Ugly stories with fatal endings are many too. Forbes' death is one too many of such ugly encounters. With all the perverts out there, what are some of the measures parents could adopt to protect their kids from online predators?
